Civic club salutes girls of month
CARMICHAELS – Amanda Lynn Brown and Georganna Ferek, seniors at Carmichaels Area High School, were named Girls of the Month for January and February, respectively, by Carmichaels Area Women’s Civic Club.
Brown, daughter of Curt and Stacey Brown, Carmichaels, is senior class vice president, a member of the National Honor Society, chemistry club, ski club, photo editor for the school newspaper, an EMT trainee and participates in varsity basketball and softball.
Outside of school, she enjoys recreational swimming and skiing and plays on a traveling softball team.
Brown plans to attend West Virginia University to study nursing.
Ferek, daughter of Dena and the late Stan Ferek III, is a member of the National Honor Society, senior standing committee, SADD, art, yearbook and chorus clubs and student council.
Outside of school, she volunteers at the food bank, Greene County Humane Society and soup kitchens. She also has raced in the Pittsburgh half marathon and the Dock to Lock 5k race.
Ferek plans to attend California University and major in athletic training.
