A Finleyville man who pleaded guilty to statutory sexual assault and corrupting minors in early December reported to the Washington County jail Thursday to begin serving his sentence.
Russell W. Robertson, 50, of 5141 Chevy Chase Road, was given a two- to eight-year sentence Dec. 2 after he pleaded guilty before Washington County Judge John DiSalle. DiSalle ordered Robertson to report to the jail to begin his sentence Jan. 2.
Robertson was accused of assaulting a 15-year-old girl over a three-month period at a home in Carroll Township in 2012. The girl told police Robertson touched her inappropriately when she went to the home to visit a friend. Robertson was reportedly living there at the time. Robertson also was accused of giving alcoholic beverages to the girl and her friends. He is accused of having the inappropriate contact with the 15-year-old while she was highly intoxicated.
Robertson faced several counts each of statutory sexual assault, involuntary deviate sexual intercourse, endangering the welfare of children and corruption of minors. The additional charges were dismissed.
Robertson was also sentenced to five years of probation, ordered to receive perpetrator counseling and must be assessed for alcohol and drug issues and to see if he is a sexually violent predator. He must comply with Megan’s Law regulations and has been labeled as a sex offender who must register his address with authorities for the rest of his life.
He is not to have contact with the girl, her family and minor children.
