A McMurray couple sued the Washington County Transportation Authority and several related entities, claiming the husband was injured when the driver of the van in which he was a passenger traveled too fast over a speed bump.

Frank and Minnie Suska of 119 Hemlock Drive demanded a jury trial but did not specify an amount of damages.

Frank Suska was a participant in the transportation authority’s door-to-door Washington Rides program on Jan. 23, 2012.

The shuttle jostled Suska, a front-seat passenger, as it was driven on Oakwood Road near Hemlock, he claims. According to the suit, he suffered a severe neck sprain, a compression fracture to a vertebrae in his neck, headaches and other injuries.

The Suskas, who have been married for 63 years, claim the driver failed to keep the vehicle under proper control and neglected to operate it at a safe speed when approaching a speed bump.

Other defendants in the suit include Washington County Aging Services, Southwestern Pennsylvania Area Agency on Aging, First Transit Inc. and First Group America Inc., the United Kingdom-based corporation that owns First Transit.
