CORAOPOLIS – State police said a tractor-trailer driver has died in a crash involving an out-of-control sport-utility vehicle, closing the westbound lanes of Interstate 376 several miles west of Pittsburgh.

Police have yet to release the names of either driver involved in the crash, which occurred Monday about 9:45 a.m. near Montour Run Road in Moon Township.

Trooper Robin Mungo says the SUV driver lost control and hit the tractor-trailer, which hit a barrier and guiderail before flipping into its side and traveling down a slope on the side of the highway.

The truck driver has been pronounced dead at the scene, while the SUV driver was taken to a Pittsburgh hospital with unspecified injuries.

The westbound lanes, which carry traffic from the city toward Pittsburgh International Airport, were expected to remain closed for hours.
