A Fayette County man faces several charges stemming from a brief pursuit last month by Centerville police.

Robert Jason Guiser, 34, of Newell, was charged Monday with driving under the influence of alcohol, fleeing and eluding police, and traffic violations stemming from the incident in the early morning hours of Dec. 8.

Police attempted to make a traffic stop in the 500 block of National Pike. The vehicle continued to cross over the center line as it traveled west on National Pike. The vehicle continued for more than 1 1/2 miles before making a right turn onto Linton Road and slowly driving into an embankment.

Guiser was taken to Monongahela Valley Hospital for a blood alcohol test. Police said his blood alcohol level was more than three times the 0.08 limit presumed for intoxication. A preliminary hearing is set for Feb. 6 before District Judge Joshua Kanalis.
