The thaw Wednesday following a two-day polar vortex contributed to back-to-back water line ruptures in northern Washington County.
Pennsylvania-American Water discovered a water line break on East McMurray Road about 2:30 p.m. about 30 minutes after it repaired one a short distance away on the same road near Peters Township High School, company spokeswoman Josephine Posti said.
Posti said about 60 customers of the company in that area were expected to be without water until 10 p.m.
Pennsylvania-American also Thursday was investigating reports of a third water line break in Southpointe, she said.
A Washington County 911 supervisor said that line ruptured about 6 p.m. near Southpointe Golf Club, 360 Southpointe Boulevard, and that it wasn’t causing any problems.
