Union Township supervisors will hold a public hearing Monday on a request by a local fruit and vegetable farm with a large retail operation to transfer a liquor license to its store to sell beer.
Trax Farms’ president, Robert L. Trax, is seeking to transfer a liquor license from the closed Price’s Tavern on Route 19 in North Strabane Township to the farm along Route 88, township records show.
Trax intends to sell specialty beer, lagers and beer-making kits “to stay competitive with similar businesses,” Robert Trax stated in his Dec. 5 letter to the township.
The farm market intends to comply with state liquor regulations and “feels this fits with our current operations.”
The family farm has been in operation since 1865.
Supervisors will conduct the hearing at 6:30 p.m. in the township building along Finleyville-Elrama Road.
