Three injured: Three people, including two children, were injured Friday night in a two-vehicle crash on Interstate 70 eastbound at the Bentleyville exit. State police said a van driven by Esther Tichenor, 45, of Newark, Ohio, had slowed for heavy traffic when she was hit from behind by a pickup truck driven by David A. Schmitt, 58, of California. Three passengers in the van, Charles Tichenor, 46, Kylie Knighton, 4, and Alexander Chichester, 2, all of Newark, were taken to Monongahela Valley Hospital for treatment. Schmitt will be cited for following too closely.

DUI crash: Evelyn Kay Weigmann, 49, of 9 Dunbar Ave., Slovan, will be charged by McDonald police with driving under the influence of alcohol, driving under suspension and accidents involving damage to unattended property stemming from a crash Thursday night on Linden Avenue, Burgettstown. Weigmann’s van was stuck on the side of the hill with the back of the vehicle resting on a guide wire for a utility pole. Wires also were knocked down. Police said Weigmann refused to submit to a blood-alcohol test after failing field sobriety tests. Burgettstown firefighters assisted at the scene.

Vehicle crashes: Frank Romano, 71, of 418 Cecil St., Canonsburg, refused treatment Wednesday when his vehicle crashed into two parked vehicles in the 100 block of West Pike Street, Canonsburg police said.

Head-on crash: No one was injured in a head-on crash Thursday morning on Enon Church Road near Valley Church Road, East Finley. State police said a car driven by Stanley M. Worwa, 25, of Mt. Pleasant, Ohio, crossed the center line and struck a vehicle driven by Bruce L. Ramsey, 58, of Burgettstown. Worwa will be cited for failing to stay in his lane.

Charged in theft: Logan Anthony Hunt, 21, of 10 Plum Run Lane, Scenery Hill, was arrested Friday night by North Franklin police on charges of theft and access device fraud. He is accused of using the credit card of Aprel Cange to make two purchases including one for $253.08 at Days Inn, 1370 W. Chestnut St. Cange told police she had given Hunt a ride to the motel. A short time later, she received a telephone alert that her credit card had been used. Hunt was arraigned before District Judge Ethan Ward and placed in Washington County jail on $5,000 bond.

Woman injured: Kathe Dollish, 59, of 20 McBride Road, North Strabane, was injured when her sport utility vehicle crashed into a light pole at The Meadows Racetrack & Casino about 4:45 p.m. Friday. North Strabane police said Dollish failed to negotiate a left curve on Johnson Road. The vehicle went off the right side of the road and she then steered back onto the road. The vehicle then went left, ran over a street sign and hit a ditch, becoming airborne for about 15 feet. Police said the vehicle traveled onto casino property, across a grassy area before hitting the light pole. Dollish, who was not wearing a seat belt, was partially wedged under the dashboard of the vehicle. She was flown to Allegheny General Hospital, Pittsburgh, where she was listed in good condition Saturday afternoon. Police are continuing their investigation.

Charged in crash: Joshua Ryan Ankley, 32, of 18 Dinsmore Ave., Burgettstown, was charged Friday with two counts of reckless endangerment and one count each of DUI of alcohol, DUI of a controlled substance, having an open container of alcohol and traffic violations. McDonald police were called Jan. 4 to Steubenville Pike, Robinson, after nearly striking a vehicle occupied by James E. and James M. Leadbitter head-on. Ankley continued and was stopped by police in Smith Township. Ankley told police he crashed into an embankment. He also had an open bottle of beer in the vehicle.

Assault arrest: Antonio Rivera, 38, of 304 Meadow Ave., Charleroi, was arrested Saturday police by Washington police for allegedly hitting his wife, Jessica Rivera, in the face and neck in the waiting room at Washington Hospital’s emergency department. Police said he had been taken there for treatment. He was arraigned before District Judge Ethan Ward on charges of simple assault and disorderly conduct and placed in Washington County jail on $5,000 bond.
