While the death Friday of an inmate at the State Correctional Institution-Greene is being viewed as a “potential homicide,” Greene County District Attorney Marjorie Fox said Monday the case “is still being investigated.”

Ronald Yarbough, 22, of Cresson, was found unresponsive in his cell just after 6 p.m. and was pronounced dead at 7:48 p.m.

An autopsy was performed Saturday but the results have not been made public.

Phones at SCI-Greene were not answered Monday afternoon, and Susan McNaughton, press secretary for the state Department of Corrections, had not returned several phone calls.

Yarbough was serving a 1-to 4-year sentence for aggravated bodily injury to an officer that occurred in Cambria County in 2010.
