McDonald police are looking for a man who is stalking victims and has been seen prowling around the Panhandle Trail.

About 10 p.m. Saturday, he was seen standing on O’Hara Street adjacent to the Panhandle Trail, making threatening gestures to a victim inside a house, police said. After making the gesture, he reportedly ran east on O’Hara. The victim told police she had seen him on the trail before.

While he has not made any physical contact with his victims, police said the suspect hides between trees and waits.

Police said the suspect is white, middle-aged, perhaps in his 50s, with a thin build and a white or gray beard. On Saturday, he was seen wearing a black trench coat. Another witness reported seeing a man matching the description running on Noblestown Road Saturday. Police checked the area, but failed to locate him.

Police are actively following up on the incident. Surveillance video in the area will also be reviewed by police.

Police are urging anyone who uses the trail to go with another person and carry a cellphone.

Anyone with information, or who may have come in contact with the suspect, is asked to call McDonald police at 724-926-2015, ext. 20, or 911.
