NEW SALEM, Pa. (AP) — State police have charged a man with robbing a small Fayette County market and then shooting the owner’s friend in the leg.
Troopers from Uniontown on Tuesday continued searching for 24-year-old Robert Gene Miller, of Uniontown.
Police say Miller entered Footedale Market in German Township about 8:50 p.m. Monday and took an undetermined amount of money from the cash register while threatening two employees.
During the robbery, 37-year-old James Fisher Jr. emerged from the owner’s apartment in the rear of the store. When Fisher saw the gun, he tried to return to the apartment, but was shot in the back of the leg as Miller ran away from the store.
Police say the victims have known Miller for years and identified him as the suspect.
