Police are searching for a man who walked into the U.S. post office in Coal Center shortly after 2 p.m. Wednesday, told the cashier he was armed and left with an undisclosed amount of cash.

The robber is white, in his 30s, about 5-foot-10 and wearing a dark blue hooded sweatshirt and jeans, Southwest Regional police Chief John Hartman said. The robber also wore dark, oval-shaped sunglasses.

He did not show a weapon, Hartman said, but told the clerk he was armed. The clerk was the only person in the post office. The robber fled on foot in an unknown direction. There were no suspects as of late Wednesday.

The post office was closed for the remainder of the day.

No injuries were reported. Hartman said U.S. postal inspectors were processing the scene.

Police are asking anyone with information to call Southwest Regional Police Department at 724-929-8484.
