An East Washington mother was charged Tuesday by borough police with interfering with the custody of a child and concealing the whereabouts of a child after allegedly hiding her daughter from Washington County Children and Youth workers.

Nancy Ann Davis, 40, of 129 North Ave., is accused of helping her 13-year-old daughter flee from their home Oct. 28 by having her go out the rear window when a CYS worker came to take the girl into protective custody.

The CYS worker was to take the girl to a hearing before a juvenile master. The girl was being removed from her home because her mother was addicted to drugs, police stated in a complaint filed with District Judge Jay Weller.

Davis and her daughter were found at 90 E. Chestnut St. Jan. 1, police said. The child was taken into custody.

Police said Davis had been staying at a drug-treatment facility in Wilkinsburg.

The charges will be sent by summons from Weller’s office. A hearing will be held later.
