Couple arrested for selling heroin from motel room
WAYNESBURG – Two people who were alleged to be selling heroin from a room at the Holiday Motel in Waynesburg were arrested Thursday night after a search of the room turned up $6,436, drug paraphernalia and 111 stamp bags of heroin.
Lee James Wright, 34, of 34 Monarch St., Washington, and Jessica Ann Jenkins, 26, of 112 Third St., Waynesburg, were each charged with possession with intent to deliver or delivery of a controlled substance, criminal conspiracy, possession of a controlled substance and possession of drug paraphernalia.
According to court documents, detectives with the Greene County Drug Task Force received information Wright had been selling heroin throughout Greene and Washington counties and was currently selling drugs from a room at the Holiday Motel at 1135 E. High St.
After conducting surveillance of activities at the room and conducting a controlled purchase of heroin from occupants of the room, detectives obtained a search warrant from District Judge Lou Dayich of Waynesburg.
Task force members, Waynesburg police and state police executed the warrant Thursday night. Detectives said they found a large quantity of heroin in the pocket of a red hoodie jacket in the bathroom. Wright’s identification and cash were also found in the pocket.
Detectives also found one stamp bag of heroin, a syringe and empty stamp bags on Jenkins. Numerous syringes, spoons with heroin residue, cotton balls and empty stamp bags were found throughout the room, detectives said.
Wright and Jenkins were arraigned before Dayich. Wright was placed in the Greene County Jail on $65,000 bond. Jenkins was jailed on $50,000 bond.
