$1 million Cash 5 lottery ticket sold in Charleroi

A $1 million Cash 5 ticket from Monday night’s drawing was sold at the Save-A-Lot grocery store in Charleroi, the Pennsylvania Lottery announced.
Store owner Charlotte Vaccaro said the revelation Tuesday morning was “exciting” and a few customers braved the snow and cold Tuesday to touch the grocery store’s “winners wall” hoping that good luck would rub off on them.
“People touch it for good luck,” Vaccaro said.
The wall shows a list of tickets sold that won prizes more than $10,000. The identity of the Cash 5 winner was not immediately known, lottery officials said.
“It’s pretty exciting,” Vaccaro said. “We got the call from the lottery (Tuesday) morning. Because of the snow, the traffic has been slow, but the (customers) who come in are pretty excited.”
Vaccaro said the store at 110 McKean Ave. also sold a Cash 5 worth nearly $500,000 two years ago.
The winning ticket correctly matched all five balls with 9-19-24-30-42 to win the $1 million jackpot Monday night. The store will receive a $5,000 bonus for selling the ticket.
Lottery officials said the winner should immediately sign the back of the ticket and call them at 717-702-8146. The winner can file a claim at any of lottery’s seven satellite offices, including the Pittsburgh office at 1424 Western Ave., or at lottery headquarters in Dauphin County.
This is the second time in three months a $1 million Cash 5 lottery ticket was sold in Washington County. TJ’s Deli Mart on Route 19 in North Strabane sold a winning ticket Oct. 14.
