• Action: The board approved an addition to the agreement between the recorder of deeds office and the Pennsylvania Historical and Museum Commission for storage of rolls of microfilm. The fee will be $2.50 per roll, up from $2, but this is only the second increase in cost since 1987. The same office won approval of a contract not to exceed $25,000 for archival storage services with IMR digital imaging services to convert digital images to microfilm at a cost of 35 cents per image.

The Pennsylvania Trolley Museum will again provide a person to conduct tours of the Washington County Courthouse at a cost not to exceed $4,000 this year.

The board OK’d an appropriation to the Southwestern Pennsylvania Legal Aid Society of $448,315.

The county extended its lease with the Washington County Redevelopment Authority for office space on the sixth floor of the Courthouse Square building through Feb. 28, 2015, at a rate of $14.50 per square foot plus 19 parking spaces. The total monthly rent is $10,064.

The county, through a state contract with Day Ford of Monroeville, is purchasing a Ford Interceptor sedan at a cost of $24,227 for the district attorney’s office and two similar vehicles, both with all-wheel-drive, for use by the sheriff’s office at a cost of $33,336 and $35,138, including maintenance agreements.

The sheriff’s office is replacing the oldest vehicles in its fleet, which have odometer readings of 160,000 and 180,000 miles. The new vehicles will be used to serve warrants, and they must contain added safety features to keep prisoners from escaping.

The board approved a three-year agreement with Stericycle of Lake Forest, Ill., to remove infectious waste from the Washington County Health Center, Arden, and from the jail at a monthly cost of $248 from April 1 of this year through March 31, 2017.

• Next meeting: 10 a.m. Thursday, Feb. 6, in the public meeting room of the Courthouse Square office building.
