PITTSBURGH (AP) – Authorities in Western Pennsylvania said a mother of five who was shot to death on a Pittsburgh-area street was probably not the intended target of the gunfire.

Family and friends of 25-year-old Susan Sidney of McKeesport gathered Tuesday evening for a vigil to mourn her loss and pray for justice.

Police said Sidney was shot near a street corner just after 11 p.m. Monday and taken to a hospital, where she died of a gunshot wound to the chest and arm.

Police said Sidney was walking with a man who fled after the shooting, and Allegheny County police said he is believed to have been the shooter’s intended target.

Lt. Andrew Schurman said the man hasn’t been located and the motive for the shooting remains unknown.
