Two drivers were injured Tuesday afternoon in a head-on crash along Route 88 in Stockdale.

Stockdale firefighters said Georgann Schaum, 53, of Allenport, was driving south on Route 88 when she crossed the center line near Locust Street and crashed into a northbound vehicle driven by Madison Popelas, 22, of Roscoe.

Schaum suffered serious injuries to her lower body when the dashboard pushed into her legs, while Popelas only suffered scuffs and bruises, firefighters said. Both were transported by ambulance to Mon Valley Hospital for treatment, firefighters said.

Route 88 was closed for about two hours while emergency responders cleared the crash. RESA Regional police are investigating. Firefighters from Roscoe and Charleroi assisted Stockdale at the scene.
