A Centerville man was arrested Thursday by Centerville police after he allegedly sexually assaulted a 10-year-old girl during a nine-month period last year.

Walter Lutes, 52, of 107 National Pike, is charged with three counts each of involuntary deviate sexual intercourse, sexual assault, indecent assault and corruption of minors.

Police were notified in February by Washington County Children and Youth Services regarding the alleged sexual assault of the girl. He is accused of having inappropriate contact with the girl.

A forensic interview was conducted with the girl. She told investigators that on three occasions between spring break and Thanksgiving, Lutes had the inappropriate contact with her.

Lutes was arraigned before District Judge Joshua Kanalis and placed in Washington County jail on $100,000 bond. A preliminary hearing is set for Wednesday in Central Court.
