A Chartiers Township man was hospitalized Saturday night for treatment of smoke inhalation from a fire in the living room of his home.

Kevin Lecompte was sleeping in his home at 655 Allison Hollow Road when he heard the smoke detector going off, said Chartiers fire Chief Vince Altieri. Firefighters were called to the fire at 9:37 p.m. and found heavy smoke coming from the residence.

The fire was contained to the living room of the one-story, brick home, although there was smoke damage throughout the residence. Altieri said firefighters had the blaze knocked down in about 15 minutes.

Lecompte was taken to Canonsburg Hospital for treatment as a precaution. Altieri said Lecompte was the only one at home when the fire broke out.

A state police fire marshal is investigating the cause, although Altieri said it is not suspicious.

Assisting at the scene were firefighters from Houston as well as Chartiers police and ambulance crews from Canonsburg and Fort Cherry.
