No foul play in death of Western Pa. man hit by train

GREENSBURG (AP) – A Western Pennsylvania coroner has ruled that the early morning death of a man struck by a train over the weekend was not the result of foul play.
Authorities in Westmoreland County said 22-year-old Christopher Reed of Windber was struck at about 1 a.m. Sunday in St. Clair Township, about 50 miles east of Pittsburgh, after spending the evening at a wedding reception.
Coroner Ken Bacha said early suspicion that a fight might have been involved proved to be unfounded. He told the Pittsburgh Tribune-Review that Monday’s autopsy found injuries “consistent with being struck by a train.” Investigators are trying to determine whether the death was accidental or suicide.
Norfolk Southern spokesman Dave Pidgeon declined comment on the speed of the train or other details, citing the investigation.
