Hospital foundation holds annual golf event
The Greene County Memorial Hospital Foundation recently held its seventh annual golf benefit at Rohanna’s Golf Course in Waynesburg. Fourteen teams registered to compete and for the first time in several years had exceptional weather throughout the day.
Taking home first place with an outstanding score of 15 under par was the team from First Federal Savings and Loan of Greene County, represented by Tony Negley, Bob Sonneborn, Scott O’Neil and Miles Baker. Two strokes behind in second place were Bob Bohach, Ken Titus, Joe Pervola and Craig Conklin from Alpha Natural Resources. In third place, despite being a little shorthanded, were Chuck Baily, Tim Baily and Mike Baily from Baily Insurance, also with a score of 13 under par.
Multiple individual skill prizes were awarded as well as hundreds of dollars of raffle prizes to a few lucky winners. Once again, the Miss Rain Day contestants were on-hand volunteering their time to help the cause and make sure everyone had a good time.
The real winners from the day were Greene County and the foundation by raising thousands of dollars that will go to support countless initiatives designed to improve the health and well-being of people who call Greene County home. As always, many local organizations contributed to this event such as Alpha Natural Resources, Baily Insurance, First Federal Savings and Loan of Greene County, First National Bank of PA, K2 Engineering, and Waynesburg University.
Additional sponsors helped add to the festivities as Rhodes and Hammers Printing sponsored a $10,000 hole in one contest, Southwest Regional Medical Center sponsored breakfast, while State Sen. Tim Solobay and State Rep. Pam Snyder along with Gymsource sponsored a wonderful lunch provided by the Lodge at Rohanna’s.
The foundation’s next major event will be the 25th Annual Harvest Ball at Nemacolin Woodlands Resort Nov. 8.
