PennDOT Greene County maintenance schedule

The state Department of Transportation released the following tentative work plan for the week of July 28, 2014.

All maintenance activities are conducted on a weather-permitting basis, said PennDOT’s Greene County maintenance Manager Jerome Simkovic.

Motorists should drive with caution through all work areas and be alert for signed work zones requiring the use of headlights.

• Culvert pipe reconstruction is being conducted on Route 1021, Crucible Road, Cumberland Township.

• Major slide repair and ditch cleaning activities are scheduled for Route 18, Browns Creek Road in Morris Township.

• Bridge Cleaning is being conducted on Route 18, Browns Creek Road in Franklin, Washington and Morris townships; on Golden Oaks Road in Center Township and on Route 21, West Roy Furman Highway, in Richhill and Center townships.

• Shoulder cutting and grading activities will continue on Route 4007, Ackley Creek, in Richhill Township; Route 4010, Grange Road, in Gray Township; Route 18, Browns Creek Road, Morris Township; and Route 21, West Roy Furman Highway in Richhill and Center townships.

• Pipe installation is scheduled for Route 3001, Ned Ridge Road, in Springhill Township and Windy Gap Road in Aleppo Township.

• Patching will continue on Route 21, East Roy Furman Highway, to Junction Deli and on Route1023, Jacobs Ferry Road in Cumberland Township.

State roads will be reviewed and signs will be updated, downed signs will be replaced and concerns addressed on various state roads throughout the county.

The State Correctional Institution of Greene will conduct roadside litter pick up operations on Route 18, west of the Route 18/21 split toward the West Virginia line. Please drive carefully when encountering this moving operation.

PennDOT has a 24-hour toll free number for residents to call to report any road maintenance concerns. This number can also be used to report locations of dead deer on state highways. The number is 1-800-FIX-ROAD (1-800-349-7623).
