Police release man after questioning in Roscoe shooting

ROSCOE – State police found a shooting victim outside his Roscoe residence early Friday, “sitting on a stoop and not looking too good” with a wound to his chest before they took his roommate into custody for questioning, court records state.
The victim, Shawn Kuch, 40, was taken to a Pittsburgh hospital, where he was in serious condition but expected to survive the 2 a.m. shooting at his residence, state Trooper Stefani Plume said.
His roommate, Les Anderson, 67, was taken to the state police barracks in Belle Vernon for questioning and returned to his 407 Chester Ave. residence about noon Friday after investigators determined the shooting appeared to be a matter of self-defense, Plume said.
Plume said the two men had an argument that turned physical and Anderson grabbed a .32-caliber revolver and shot his friend.
Kuch, who occasionally resides with Anderson, punched him in the head twice before he was shot, the affidavit supporting a warrant to search their home indicates.
Patricia Harger, identified as Kuch’s girlfriend, formerly dated Anderson, and she was inside the home’s bedroom before the disturbance took place, the record states. She said she did not witness the shooting but noticed Kuch in her bedroom moments before the argument broke out.
Plume said the shooting remains under investigation, and she didn’t rule out the possibility police would later file charges.
