DILLINER – A Dilliner man was charged with allegedly hitting and choking his sister following a dispute over a window air conditioner.

State police said Joshua William Smitley, 20, of 129 Maple Street, got into an argument Sunday with Kaya Lynn Smitley over the use of the air conditioner. Kaya Smitley told police she agreed to let her brother use the unit but said he became angry, punched her in the forehead several times and then choked her.

Police said Smitley, who was charged with simple assault and harassment, admitted he became angry and punched his sister in the head. A preliminary hearing is scheduled at 1:45 p.m. June 17.
