RICES LANDING – Eight young females will compete Saturday in the 2014 Miss Riverfest pageant with the winners reigning over the Rices Landing Riverfest June 13 and 14 at the Rices Landing lock wall.

The pageant will get under way at 2 p.m. and will be held in the auditorium at Jefferson-Morgan High School. Doors open at 1 p.m. Admission is $5 for adults and $3 for children.

Contestants will vie for the titles of Little Miss Riverfest, ages 3 and 4; Petite Miss Riverfest, ages 5 to 7; Junior Miss Riverfest, ages 8 to 10; Teen Miss Riverfest, ages 11 to 14; and Miss Riverfest 2014, age 15 to junior in high school.

Contestants will compete in the following categories: photogenic, sportswear, talent and evening gown. Little Miss Riverfest contestants will not participate in the talent portion of the pageant.

One queen will be chosen in each division, as well as a first and second runner-up. The queens will receive a crown, sash, trophy, flowers and cash award. First runners-up and second runners-up will each receive a trophy and flowers. A photogenic award will be presented in each age division.

The pageant director is Tori Adams. The contestants for the pageant are:

• Bailey Smith, 6, is the daughter of Carrie Strosnider and Jonathan Smith of Carmichaels. She will be performing a dance routine to “Cover Girl.”

• Jersey Gianna Smith, 7, is the daughter of Daniel and Joey Lynn Smith of Carmichaels. She will be performing a dance routine to “Born to be Wild.”

• Hannah Giles, 10, is the daughter of Gary and Rachelle Giles of Carmichaels. She will be performing an acrobatic routine to “Amazing Grace.”

• Ainsley Grace Chadwick, 10, is the daughter of J. Eric Chadwick II and Lisa Chadwick of Carmichaels. She will be performing a dance routine to “I’m a Brass Band.”

• Payden Policz, 13, is the daughter of Richard Policz and Cheryl Spak of Waynesburg. She will be performing an acrobatic routine to “Work of Art.”

• Caitlyn Ricco, 14, is the daughter of Tom and Carrie Ricco of Carmichaels. She will be performing a dance routine to “I’ll Always Remember You.”

• Erin Kline, 16, is the daughter of Bradley and Janette Kline of Rices Landing. She is a vocalist and will be singing “A Change in Me.”

• Baylee Ann Wydo, 16, is the daughter of Brandi and Ed Streit of Carmichaels and Chuck LaVerde of Graysville. She will be performing a jazz dance to “The Way You Make Me Feel.”

A full slate of activities is scheduled for the two-day Riverfest.

On June 13, gates will open at 4 p.m. Activities include: blacksmith demonstrations at historic W.A. Young and Sons Foundry, 4 pm. to closing; opening ceremonies, 5:30 p.m.; Hit N Run Band, 6 p.m., sponsored by Rices Landing Giant Eagle; The Hamptons Band, 9 p.m.; fireworks sponsored by EQT, 9:45 p.m.

Admission is $5 for adults and $2 for children.

On June 14, gates will open at 11: 45 a.m. Activities include kayak and paddleboard rentals at boat launch, 11:45 a.m. to dark; blacksmith demonstrations at historic W.A. Young and Sons Foundry, noon to closing; Michael Christopher Band, 12:30 p.m.; Justin Fabus Band, 3 p.m., sponsored by First Energy; Christian Beck Band, 6 p.m., sponsored by Greene County Tourism; and The Hillbilly Way, 9 p.m., sponsored by Rices Landing Volunteer Fire Co.

Admission for the day’s events is $15 for adults and $2 for children at the gate. Advance tickest at $10 for adults at Rices Landing Giant Eagle and at Showclix.com.

More than 30 local food and craft vendors are expected to participate in Riverfest. Activities will be offered for children.
