Waynesburg Central to graduate 140
WAYNESBURG – Eight summa cum laude graduates will be recognized at Waynesburg Central High School’s commencement at 7 p.m. Friday in the high school auditorium. Diplomas will be handed out this year to 140 seniors.
Speaker for the event will be Brian Uplinger, superintendent.
The following students were named summa cum laude graduates:
• Hillary N. Berry, daughter of Michael and Rachelle Berry of Waynesburg, plans to attend Waynesburg University and major in nursing with a goal to become a nurse practitioner.
She was class secretary, a member of the National Honor Society, SADD, Spanish club, Alpha, was drum major and section leader of the high school band and received numerous academic awards.
• Skylar A. Braga, daughter of Terry and Melanie Braga of Waynesburg, will attend Case Western Reserve University and major in pre-medicine. Her projected career is to be a neonatologist.
She was vice president of the National Honor Society, class president and was a member of Alpha, art club, Italian club, ski club, varsity club, yearbook staff and was co-captain of the cheerleading squad. She also was a member of the track team and received several academic awards.
• Jenna M. Cario, daughter of Samuel and Janet Cario of Waynesburg, plans to attend the University of Pittsburgh and major in engineering.
She was president of the National Honor Society and a member of the Academic League, art club, Italian club, SADD and was section leader in the high school band. he also was a National Merit finalist.
• Jenna L. Henry, daughter of Jamie and Cherie Henry of Waynesburg, plans to attend West Virginia University and major in engineering.
She was a member of the National Honor Society, Alpha, FFA, SADD, Spanish club, varsity club, Youth Alive and was a member of the softball team.
She also received the Daughters of the American Revolution Citizenship Award.
• Jenna M. McCracken, daughter of Chad and Jennifer McCracken, will attend the University of North Carolina and major in kinesiology. She plans to become a physical therapist.
She was a member of the National Honor Society, Green Team and Italian club.
• Courtney N. Patterson, daughter of Michael and Lisa Patterson of Waynesburg, plans to attend Duquesne University and study to become a pharmacist.
She was a member of the National Honor Society, Alpha, art club, cheerleading squad, FCA, Green Team, TV Workshop, prom committee and was editor of the yearbook staff. She also received several academic awards.
• Jacy L. Shriver, daughter of Gregory and Virginia Shriver of Waynesburg, plans to attend Waynesburg University and obtain a bachelor of science degree in nursing.
She was president of Alpha, a member of the National Honor Society, TV Workshop, varsity club, co-captain of the cheerleading squad and president of library service. She also received several academic awards.
• Rachel E. Warman, daughter of Donna Toth of Waynesburg, plans to attend Mercyhurst University and major in pre-veterinary medicine.
She was a member of the National Honor Society, Academic League, SADD, Spanish club, varsity club, percussion section leader of the band and was a member of the track team. She also received several academic awards.
