Bentworth High School graduates 72
Bentworth High School will graduate 72 seniors at commencement exercises at 6 p.m. Friday at the high school gymnasium.
Valedictorian is Matthew Vickless and salutatorian is Ella Schaltenbrand.
Vickless is the son of John and Tonya Vickless of Scenery Hill.
He received the Tri-CADA scholarship, Cathy Wonsettler Memorial Scholarship, TK Memorial Golf Scholarship, American Legion Award, Marine Corps Distinguished Athlete Award, Bentworth Outstanding Golfer and Wrestler awards, Tri-Athlete, Bentworth Scholar Athlete award, University of Dayton President’s Merit Scholarship, University of Dayton Leadership in Service Scholarship and the Leaders of Tomorrow Award.
Vickless was captain of the varsity golf, wrestling and baseball teams, and a member of National Honor Society and Academic League.
He will attend the University of Dayton to pursue a degree in chemical engineering.
Schaltenbrand is the daughter of Kathleen Downes of Bentleyville and Philip Schaltenbrand of Scenery Hill.
She received the American Legion Award, Patron of the Creative Arts Scholarship, Sprit of Alex Scholarship, Alex’s Love of Track Scholarship, Alex’s Love of Soccer Scholarship, Duquesne University Academic Scholarship, Marine Corps Distinguished Athlete Award, Outstanding Track Athlete award and Best All-Around Senior Female Athlete award,
Schaltenbrand was a member of the varsity track and field and soccer teams, was secretary of National Honor Society and a member of Student Council, Senior Council, Leo Club, the high school musical cast and Study Travel Club.
She plans to attend Duquesne University with an undecided major.
