Downtown event to feature painting raffle
WAYNESBURG – As part of the festivities during Friday’s Summer Open House in downtown Waynesburg, Waynesburg Prosperous & Beautiful is selling chances to win a framed original watercolor painting by local artist Leslie Fehling of Prosperity.
“High Street Panorama” features a portion of one side of High Street in Waynesburg. The painting depicts the span of three blocks, from the Waynesburg Borough Police Station to In Motion Dance + Fitness. The Greene County Courthouse centers the image, with all other present-day buildings in the span represented.
The actual painting measures 24 inches wide and 6 inches tall, with a 3-inch mat and a dark-wood frame. The entire piece is valued at more than $500.
Tickets cost $2 each, or $5 for 3 tickets. Tickets are available now through June 30 at two downtown locations – Artbeat at 52 E. High St. and First Federal Savings and Loan of Greene County at 25 E. High St. – and will be sold Friday evening during the Summer Open House. The winner will be drawn June 30, and arrangements can be made to receive the painting.
Fehling also has framed and matted prints of the painting available for sale at Artbeat.
In addition to the painting, a set of eight single-admission passes to Alpha Aquatic Center in Waynesburg is being raffled Friday. Donated by the Greene County Department of Recreation, the set includes four adult tickets and four child tickets, a total value of $48. The winner will be drawn that night, but does not need to be present to claim the passes. Chances to win are also $2 each or 3 for $5.
The Summer Open House is sponsored by Consol Energy, with additional support from Greene County Tourism.
