WAYNESBURG – The Family Literacy and Children’s Departments at the Eva K. Bowlby Public Library will hold the second of three workshops Saturday for families on stranger danger and emergency preparedness.

“Keep Me Safe from Danger” will be held from 10 a.m. to noon and will feature a representative from Southwest Regional Medical Center to offer American Heart Association Infant, Child and Adult CPR/AED certification for patrons 12 years and older. The American Red Cross will provide hands-on activities for kids on emergency preparedness, and EMS Southwest will give an ambulance tour.

To make emergency preparedness more enjoyable for older elementary and middle school students and teenagers, Bowlby Library is partnering with the Greene County American Red Cross for a Zombie Apocalypse Party from 1 to 3 p.m. on the library lawn. There will be zombie-themed activities, games and snack foods.

The first workshop was held June 7 and focused on fire prevention and safety. The last in the series will be held June 21 and will address “Keep Me Safe and Protected.”

The Keep Me Safe series is an annual event in the month of June and is free to all citizens in the area. The Keep Me Safe series is designed for family members to participate together. You can register your family by calling the library at 724-627-9776.
