An Independence Township man was arrested Monday by McDonald police after he allegedly threatened to blow up his neighbor’s house last month.

Joseph A. Miller, 51, of 112 Meadowcroft Road, is accused of threatening to throw a Molotov cocktail at the home of David Was, 114 Meadowcroft.

Was told McDonald police that on several occasions over the last several years, Miller reportedly threatened his life and that of his family.

On April 4, McDonald police were called to Was’ home. Miller’s wife, Christine Miller, had used Was’ cellphone to call police.

Was was reportedly helping Christine Miller remove her belongings from the home.

While he was helping her, Miller reportedly made death threats against him.

Last month, Miller reportedly told Was he was going to have someone throw a Molotov cocktail at his home while he was sleeping.

Miller also reportedly told Was that he was not on his medication.

Was told police that he was concerned for the welfare of his son, who is often home alone.

He also told the officer he and his family have had many sleepless nights since Miller allegedly made the threat.

Miller was arraigned before District Judge Ethan Ward on charges of terroristic threats and harassment.

He was released on $25,000 unsecured bond with orders to have no contact with Was or his family.

A preliminary hearing is set for June 24 before Ward.
