GREENSBURG (AP) – An all-female jury has been chosen to hear evidence in the first-degree murder trial of a man accused of having strangled his wife and dumped her body in a wooded area in western Pennsylvania two years ago.
The Pittsburgh Tribune-Review reports that testimony is scheduled to begin next week in the Westmoreland County trial of 43-year-old David Stahl of Hempfield.
Prosecutors allege that Stahl killed 37-year-old Derry Area schoolteacher Rebecca Stahl in February 2012 after they argued about his drinking, then kept her body in a shed for about two days before dumping it near the airport.
Defense attorney Donna McClelland said Monday that she will rely on prosecution witnesses to argue that jurors should consider only lesser charges such as third-degree murder or voluntary manslaughter.
