Following several reports of full wine bottles spontaneously exploding in Fine Wine & Good Spirits stores, the Pennsylvania Liquor Control Board is asking consumers to carefully dispose of Indigenous Selections Prosecco Brut 2013 in the 750 mL size. Consumers should not return the bottle to the store but instead dispose of it as soon as possible.
“Consumers should use caution when handling this product,” said Chairman Joseph E. Brion. “While we have not had any reports from consumers who may have been affected, we want to take every precaution in order to avoid a safety issue. Those who purchased the product can contact their local Fine Wine & Good Spirits Store for a full refund.”
Indigenous Selections Prosecco Brut 2013, a Chairman’s Selection wine, was sold for $12.99 in approximately 180 stores starting in early June. It has been removed from all Fine Wine & Good Spirits stores.
While the wine bottle should not be returned to the store, consumers will still be eligible for a refund. Anyone with questions or concerns can call 1-800-272-7522 and press 3 or email lbconsumer@pa.gov.
