Fallowfield man accused of downloading child porn The state attorney general’s office said Cody Gadd downloaded more than 1,000 files onto his cellphone
The state attorney general’s office charged a Fallowfield Township man with downloading more than 1,000 child pornography photos and videos onto his cellphone, some of which investigators said contained sex acts involving toddlers.
Cody Alan Gadd, 21, of 909 Fourth St. Ext., was arrested at his home Tuesday and charged with 10 felony counts of possession of child pornography and one charge of criminal use of a communications device, court documents show.
Investigators said they found the pornographic photos and videos on Gadd’s cellphone after a two-month investigation, including 80 clips that allegedly were downloaded Jan. 17 while using the wireless Internet at Bentleyville Lanes bowling alley, where Gadd worked.
Special Agent Chelsy Santoro of the attorney general’s office said the files had been downloaded onto the cellphone using the Dropbox application registered with Gadd’s name and email address Dec. 2, 2013. Investigators received a report April 15 from the National Center for Missing & Exploited Children that Gadd’s account had been flagged by Dropbox for suspicious activity, Santoro said.
Most of the files in the Dropbox account included explicit videos and images of girls younger than 17 performing sex acts with adult men, investigators said. One photo is of a girl 2 to 4 years old, investigators said.
Agents with the attorney general’s office went to Gadd’s home, which he shares with his brother and mother, Tuesday and seized his cellphone, computer tablet and computer notebook to be examined.
Gadd cooperated with investigators, court documents show, although he initially told them he had downloaded motocross photos onto his phone. Investigators said he later admitted to them that he has been trading pornography files using his cellphone.
Santoro said a review of his Dropbox account showed he had more than 1,000 videos and images of suspected child pornography.
Gadd told investigators he began viewing child pornography while attending college, court records show.
District Judge Larry Hopkins arraigned Gadd on Tuesday and set his bond at $50,000 cash. Gadd’s preliminary hearing before Hopkins is scheduled for 9 a.m. June 30.
