Washington County Prison Board took steps Wednesday that will lead to the promotion of two part-time captains to full-timers.

William C. Cramer has been employed at the jail since November 2008. Adrian Fletcher previously worked at the jail, returning in October 2012. As captains, both have been shift commanders.

Warden John Temas said after the prison board’s 5-0 vote that Cramer and Fletcher were working “almost full-time hours” as they filled in for six other captains. District Attorney Gene Vittone was absent.

The matter also requires salary board action Thursday.

Temas also received approval to hire 14 part-time guards.

The warden also noted that at the close of May, there were 284 male and 57 female inmates in the county jail.
