INDIANA (AP) – A defense attorney says a tentative plea deal is in the works for a man accused of having tried to hire a hit man to kill a woman.

Twenty-seven-year-old Kevin Peterman was charged in Indiana County with criminal solicitation to commit criminal homicide after an informant said he had been offered $5,000 for the murder.

The Indiana resident was arrested in March after meeting with the informant in Rayne Township, about 50 miles northeast of Pittsburgh.

The Pittsburgh Tribune-Review reports that Peterman waived a preliminary hearing on Thursday. A district judge then refused to reduce his bail from $100,000.

Defense attorney Ryan Tutera said in court that a tentative plea deal would have Peterman to plead guilty to a charge of criminal solicitation to commit aggravated assault.
