Two vie for Jacktown Fair Queen
WIND RIDGE – The 2014 Miss Jacktown Fair pageant will be held at 7 p.m. July 13 in the commercial hall at Jacktown Fairgrounds. Contestants will submit an essay of 300 words or less on “What the Jacktown Fair means to my community,” have a five-minute interview session, model and evening gown with a short introduction and give a 3-5 minute speech on “Why you should come to the Jacktown Fair.”
The new queen will be crowned July 15 at the upper grandstand, following the Jacktown Fair parade. She will be crowned by the outgoing 2013 Jacktown Fair Queen Michaela Hildreth, a daughter of Bill and Sharon Hildreth of Nineveh.
There are two candidates for the title; Tabatha Schiller, 18, a 2014 graduate of West Greene High School, and Taylor Horr, 17, a junior at West Greene High School this fall.
Schiller is a daughter of Frank Vorhes and Suzette Schiller of Wind Ridge. While attending West Greene High School, Schiller participated in National Honor Society, drama club, Lions club, science club and the international club, where she traveled to London and Paris. She was the editor of the high school newspaper, The Informer, an emcee for the Mr. West Greene program and played both softball and volleyball. Her hobbies include reading, fishing and gardening.
Horr is a daughter of Mark and Nancy Horr of Holbrook. She is a member of the West Greene cheerleading squad and softball team. She is a member of the praise team and youth group at Rogersville Christian Church. Her hobbies include horseback riding, fishing and hunting.
