Two Washington men were charged in connection with an alleged home invasion Saturday on East Prospect Avenue in Washington in which a woman said she was assaulted with a frying pan and robbed of $800.
Louis R. Phillips, 37, of 205 Roosevelt St., and Christopher Madera, 36, of 55 Milbeck Drive, were charged by summons Monday with robbery, burglary, theft by unlawful taking and simple assault.
The alleged victims, Shellisa Chandler, 32, of 430 East Propect Ave., and Anthony Henderson, 27, of 1795 Park Ave., were asleep in Chandler’s home when Chandler said she heard a knock on the door shortly after noon Saturday. Chandler opened the door and was struck in the face, according to court records.
She told police Phillips then entered the room and hit Henderson several times in the face while he was still asleep, then turned to Chandler and demanded her purse.
Chandler told police she grabbed her purse and ran into the kitchen. In an attempt to defend herself, Chandler said she picked up a frying pan full of grease and attempted to hit Phillips. But she said Phillips managed to grab the frying pan from her hands and struck her with it several times in the back of the head, covering her with grease.
Chandler said Phillips snatched her purse, then demanded money from Henderson, who said he didn’t have any.
Chandler said as Phillips was talking with Henderson, she grabbed a cooking fork and chased him from the home.
She said Phillips ran to a dark sedan parked nearby. Chandler identified the driver of the vehicle as Madera.
She told police she was familiar with both men.
The charges were sent from the office of District Judge Robert Redlinger.
