Theft, forgery charges: Jason Carl Greco, 24, of 180 Redd Run Road, Washington, was arrested Thursday by state police on charges of forgery, theft, theft by deception and receiving stolen property. He is accused of stealing his father’s checks and forging three for $265. He also is suspected of stealing his father’s tree stand, battery jumper station, $180 and a jar of change. Greco allegedly told police Thursday that he has a heroin problem and admitted to stealing the items. He was arraigned before District Judge David Mark and placed in Washington County jail on $10,000 bond.

Theft, tampering charges: Matthew Lovas, 27, of Oakmont, was charged Thursday by Southwest Regional police with theft and tampering with records. He is accused of stealing a bank deposit while working in his former job as manager at Pizza Hut on Wilson Road in Bentleyville.

Driver injured: Shad Burgess, 26, of Canonsburg, was injured in a one-vehicle crash about 5:35 p.m. Tuesday in the 900 block of West Pike Street, Chartiers police said. He was driving east when his vehicle crossed into the oncoming lane before going off the road and hitting a fence and tree, police said. Burgess was taken to Canonsburg Hospital for treatment of facial injuries. Police said blood was drawn to determine if he was under the influence of alcohol.

Man jailed: Joseph R. Paulik, 44, of 1524 Main St., Burgettstown, is charged by McDonald police with simple assault, reckless endangerment, harassment, disorderly conduct and public drunkenness, court records show. Paulik is accused of shoving Penny Mikels onto a couch and holding her down by the neck about 12:40 a.m. Thursday in his residence. He is in Washington County jail on $25,000 bond set by District Judge Larry Hopkins.

Drug arrest: Paul N. Bernarding Jr., 47, of 37 Port Royal Drive, Belle Vernon, is charged by city police with drug possession and possession of drug paraphernalia over accusations he had three stamp bags of heroin during a traffic stop about 5:15 p.m. Feb. 13 in the 100 block of East Main Street, court records show. He is free on $5,000 bond after being arrested on a warrant and arraigned Wednesday by District Judge Mark Wilson.

Mischief charge: Steven Merrifield of Morgantown, W.Va., faces a charge of criminal mischief for allegedly damaging a television Feb. 26 at The Meadows Racetrack & Casino, state police said.

Warrant arrest: Bryan Keith Camisa, 47, of 119 Main St., New Eagle, was taken into custody Feb. 28 by Southwest Regional police during a traffic stop on Route 837 in Union. He was wanted on a probation violation warrant in Westmoreland County. He was turned over to Westmoreland deputies.
