An Ohio man was killed early Friday in a one-vehicle accident on Interstate 70 in North Franklin Township.

Washington County Coroner Tim Warco identified the victim as Scott David Schuetz, 29, of Martins Ferry.

Warco said Schuetz was pronounced dead at 2:45 a.m. from blunt-force trauma, and he ruled the death an accident.

Schuetz lost control of the sport-utility vehicle he was driving east about 1:30 a.m. The SUV veered off the left berm and struck an embankment in the median, state police said. The vehicle overturned and came to rest in the westbound lanes of the highway, police said.

Schuetz was ejected from the vehicle. He was not wearing a seat belt, police said.
