HARRISBURG (AP) – A day of reckoning is fast approaching for the candidates for Pennsylvania governor.
Candidates for governor and lieutenant governor seeking to compete in the state’s May 20 primary must turn in their nomination petitions by Tuesday.
Gubernatorial candidates must collect valid signatures from at least 2,000 voters, including 100 in each of 10 counties. Candidates for lieutenant governor need at least 1,000 signatures, including 100 from each of five counties.
Seven Democrats are vying for their party’s nomination to challenge Republican Gov. Tom Corbett in November.
They are York businessman Tom Wolf, U.S. Rep. Allyson Schwartz, state Treasurer Rob McCord, former state environmental protection secretaries Katie McGinty and John Hanger, former state Auditor General Jack Wagner and Lebanon County Commissioner Jo Ellen Litz.
