HILLIARD, Ohio (AP) – Authorities said the body has been found of a kayaker who disappeared in a central Ohio lake while trying to rescue a dog.

The office of Franklin County Sheriff Zach Scott says the body of 21-year-old Kyle Miller was found in Darby Bend Lakes in the Prairie Oaks Metro Park in Hilliard during a second day of search efforts Sunday.

Miller and 19-year-old Austin Gifford had been kayaking at the park Saturday when they entered the frigid water to try to save the dog.

Gifford tried to rescue Miller before witnesses pulled him from the water. He had been taken to a hospital, treated and sent home.

The dog did not survive.
