A Morris Township man will be charged with disorderly conduct by state police after he allegedly ignored several orders to avoid going into his pasture where a tanker carrying propane had crashed Thursday.

Brian Gottschalk Sr., 37, of Prosperity, was told not to enter that area by Morris firefighters out of concerns for his safety until the scene could be secured, state police said.

The tanker, driven by Robert Giron, 52, of Washington, had gone off Mt. Zion Road at Woods Day Road, Morris, and rolled on its side after the driver apparently suffered a medical condition, police said. Giron had to be extricated by firefighters from Morris and South Franklin townships.

Police said Gottschalk also was seen arguing with a member of the Washington County Hazardous Materials team. Gottschalk told police he thought it was a tanker hauling water for the gas industry. Police said Gottschalk entered the scene twice more.

The road was closed for three hours.

The charge will be sent by summons from the office of District Judge Ethan Ward.
