Community Sewing Circle of Time will meet Friday for an all-day meeting in the social room of the Union Valley United Methodist Church. Donna Bennett will be hostess and program leader. Word for roll call will be garden.
Country music will be featured from 7 to 10 p.m. Saturday at the New Freeport fire hall. Bands scheduled to appear are Plumm Lost and Country Sounds. Cost is $4 and the event is sponsored by the ladies auxiliary.
Greene County Veterans Affairs will hold a veterans’ outreach at 10 a.m. March 25 in Carmichaels Senior Center. Veterans can make an appointment or stop by to learn about services, including pension, compensation, disability, health care, life insurance, funeral and burial claims and retroactive benefits, said Dalene Watson, office director. A spaghetti dinner and Chinese auction will be held from 2 to 5 p.m. March 29 at First Baptist Church, West High Street, Waynesburg, to benefit 9-year-old Shelby Barnhart. Shelby, a student at Springhill-Freeport Elementary School, has been diagnosed with stage 4 Wilm’s tumor. Cost is $8 for adults, $5 for children and kids under 2 eat free. Donations also can be made to PNC Bank to the Shelby Barnhart Cancer Fund.
The Social Service League will hold its annual Easter egg hunt for children up to 10 years old beginning at 10 a.m. April 12 in West Park, Waynesburg, near Bowlby Public Library. The park will be divided in to five areas for five different age groups. Children should bring a basket or bag so they may gather their eggs. Rain date for the event will be April 19.
