Lions Club names student of the month
JEFFERSON – Micah Stanko, a senior at Jefferson-Morgan High School, was named student of the month for March by the Clarksville Lions Club.
Stanko, son of Steve and Lenora Stanko of Clarksville, maintains a 4.0 grade-point average.
He is a member of the debate team, youth traffic safety, art club, Envirothon, and Leo club. He also participates in Big Brothers/Big Sisters and is a four-year member of the track and soccer teams.
Stanko donates much of his time to community service and service within his church. As a member of Jefferson Baptist church, he has participated in the 30-hour famine, Salvation Army bell ringing, and serves as church office aide. During his junior year, Stanko participated in a mission trip to Haiti.
As a junior, he was awarded Greene Sports Net Athlete of the Week. As a senior, he was awarded Centennial Chevrolet Scholar Athlete of the Month and DAR Good Citizen.
In the fall, Stanko plans to join the Air National Guard and study computer science at California University of Pennsylvania.
