A Washington man was arrested Tuesday by South Strabane Township police on a warrant after he allegedly stole items from Walmart, Trinity Point, last June.

Alexander Michael Martos, 23, whose last known address was 375 Jefferson Ave., is charged with three counts each of retail theft and conspiracy.

Store security told township police of a group of people who were reportedly stealing items and a short time later returning the items for a refund.

Charles W. Batch Jr. of Woodbridge, Va., is accused of driving Martos to the store. Martos is accused of stealing the items on three occasions and giving them to Batch, Nicole Brokaw of Washington and Victoria Bryer of Cochranton to return or attempt to return for gift cards. The three were also charged by township police for their alleged roles in the thefts.

He was arraigned before District Judge Jay Weller and placed in Washington County Jail on $10,000 bond.
