A Washington man was arraigned Tuesday on charges including rape after he reportedly sexually assaulted a 14-year-old Peters Township girl at his home last month after the two exchanged “sexting” messages.

Patrick Michael Clark, 21, of 375 Locust Ave., was charged by city police Detective Dan Rush with rape, involuntary deviate sexual intercourse, statutory sexual assault, indecent assault, indecent exposure and inappropriate communications with a minor.

Rush initially was notified of the alleged assault by South Strabane Township police Detective Michael Schidlmeier, who had been part of a forensic interview with the girl at UPMC-Mercy hospital in Pittsburgh. It was initially believed the incident happened in the township but was later determined it occurred in the city.

The girl told Rush during the first week of February, she and Clark exchanged “sexting” messages. Rush said the two met through social media. During the exchange, she reportedly told Clark she was 14.

The two reportedly discussed in the text messages meeting and possibly having sex. The girl told him she did not want to have sex. Clark told her he did not want to either because he did not want to get in trouble.

On Feb. 15, he reportedly picked her up at her home so they could go to his house and watch a movie. She again told him they were not going to have sex. The two reportedly started kissing. He then allegedly forced her to have sex. Clark then reportedly took the girl home, dropping her several hundred feet away from her residence.

The 14-year-old told Rush that she kept telling Clark she wanted to go home. She indicated she was frightened, but felt she could not leave nor did she know how to get home.

Clark, who is in Washington County jail on an adult probation detainer, was arraigned via video before District Judge Robert Redlinger who set bond on the charges at $25,000. A preliminary hearing will be scheduled in Central Court.
