SPRAGGS – A Perry Township man has been charged with the indecent assault of a person under the age of 13.
Howard Ronald Ackley, 66, of 380 Hoy Run Road, Spraggs, is free on $10,000 unsecured bond following a preliminary arraignment Wednesday before Greene County Magisterial District Judge Louis Dayich.
According to a criminal complaint filed by state police Trooper Daniel Barnhart, a girl came to the barracks March 14 to report Ackley had sexually assaulted her. The alleged victim told Barnhart the acts started when she was 7 years old and continued at Ackley’s residence until she was 13.
The girl said Ackley touched her inappropriately both underneath and over her clothing. She said Ackley exposed himself to her multiple times and on various occasions asked her to touch him but she refused.
When Ackley was interviewed by state police March 14, he told Barnhart he may have accidently touched the girl. When asked to clarify that statement, Ackley told Barnhart he grabbed her while wrestling around but insisted he had not done anything wrong.
A preliminary hearing in the case is scheduled for 11:30 a.m. Thursday before Dayich. Ackley also is charged with corruption of minors with a defendant who is over the age of 18 and indecent exposure.
