Two men were arrested by Canonsburg police for allegedly selling heroin to confidential informants.

Michael Jordan, 25, of 119 E. College St., Canonsburg, was arraigned Thursday before District Judge David Mark on possession and possession with intent to deliver heroin, possession of heroin and conspiracy. He was placed in Washington County jail on $50,000 bond.

Christopher Madera, 36, of 55 Milbeck Drive, North Franklin Township, was arraigned before Mark on charges of possession and possession with intent to deliver heroin and possession of paraphernalia. He was released on $5,000 unsecured bond.

“This is part of our continuing effort to keep up the pressure on drug dealers,” said police Sgt. Al Coghill, who obtained the warrants for the arrests of the two men. “Heroin continues to be our number one crime-related problem. This is part of our effort to arrest anyone selling heroin.”

A confidential informant told police Jan. 29 that Jordan had heroin for sale and that the informant was willing to purchase the drug under police supervision. The informant called Jordan and made arrangements for a meeting in an East Pike Street parking lot.

Police said the informant purchased six stamp bags of suspected heroin using buy money that was photocopied. Police in marked cruisers stopped the car Jordan was in. Both Jordan and the driver were brought to the station, and the bills were recovered.

Police said they were told Jordan and the driver had gone to Pittsburgh’s South Side earlier that day and purchased three bundles of heroin. The two reportedly used some of the drug before making the sale.

Madera is accused of selling heroin Dec. 8 to a confidential informant in the parking lot of a Bobby Vinton Boulevard fast-food restaurant.

Both men are scheduled for preliminary hearings before Mark April 2.
