CARMICHAELS – Carmichaels Area School District will conduct kindergarten and first-grade registration April 29 and 30 and May 1 in the Carmichaels Area Elementary Center.
Parents should visit the school or call the elementary center office to obtain a kindergarten registration packet. Parents who have older children already attending school may send a note requesting a packet, and the information will be sent home.
Any child who will be 5 years old by Sept. 1 may attend kindergarten. Any child who will be 6 years old by the same date may attend first grade, and a child now attending kindergarten already is registered for first grade and need not register again.
Registration will take place according to the following schedule:
• Tuesday, April 29 – Children with last names beginning with A and G, 9 to 10 a.m.; B and V, 10 to 11 a.m.; H and E, 11 a.m. to noon; and D, O and J, noon to 1 p.m.
• Wednesday, April 30 – Children with last names beginning with C and F, 9 to 10 a.m.; L and P, 10 to 11 a.m.; M and N, 11 a.m. to noon; T, U and I, noon to 1 p.m.
• Thursday May 1 – Children with last names beginning with R and Q, 9 to 10 a.m.; Y and Z, 10 to 11 a.m.; S and K, 11 a.m. to noon; and W and X, noon to 1 p.m.
Parents having children eligible to register for school this year must make arrangements to do so on these registration dates.
Parents must bring the child’s birth certificate, proof of residence, immunization records and the registration packet. The school nurse, clerical staff and transportation personnel will be available to assist parents with registration.
Rob Cole, elementary principal, said it is very important for parents to enroll students at scheduled times to comply with entrance regulations.
A short screening will be given to each child, so parents should bring their children with them to the registration.
